With friends turning their backs on her, and her mother, none the less, family, on the edge of murdering her, and the doctors, their diagnosis-es amiss, Tara thinks there is no answer. Soon, she is kissing doorknobs, and her family and friends, have had enough.

Tara Sullivan can't get rid of them. The tyrants in her head that cause her to drive herself crazy everytime they come around, which is almost all the time. In Kissing Doorknobs by Terry Spencer Hesser, poor Tara is suffering from a horrible case of OCD, but her family doesnt know, in fact, neither does she. It all started with "step on a crack and you break your mothers back." Nine syllables, she hates it. The harmless rhyme, brings her to the rim of madness, but its only the beginning. She can't control it. It happens where ever and whenever. Horrible thoughts that cause pain staking anxiety, only to be re-leaved by merciless rituals.
Now, counting every crack she sees, things start to get worse. Soon she can't hear a curse word without praying to god to save that persons life. Horrid ritual after horrid ritual, Tara can't help but wonder what is wrong with her. In this unquestionably realistic book portraying a young girl troubled with an extreme case of ocd and her disfunctional family, you can't help but feel like you are this girl, and you are living her frustration and vivid pain. You are this poor broken down soul, terribly abused by your own thoughts. Any reader far and wide would learn from this book, and enjoy themselves in the process. I thoroughly liked reading Kissing Doorknobs. Not only did it teach me more then i needed to know about OCD, it made me feel blessed i was without it. Its pages are streaked with hardship and hate. Will Tara find out what her problem truly is, and find a cure, or will she lose herself first?
